Upon registration, you will be contacted by the workshop facilitator who will provide any additional information including how to pay for materials fees (if applicable). Workshop #1: BJD Basics with Sherri Rhein

Are you new to ball-jointed dolls and have lots of questions? Do you have questions even if you aren’t new? From how to change a wig and eyes to an overview of stringing, face-ups and customizing…whether you feel like BJDs are a “whole new world” or there is still some “unexplored territory”, this BJD workshop is for you!

Workshop #2: Pattern Drafting and Modification with Anna Justice

Thursday

2:15-3:15

Would you like to learn the mechanics of pattern drafing? The workshop will cover drafting of a simple skirt block. You’ll learn from Anna Justice of KitnKatShop how to make this into a basic straight skirt and take what you’ve learned to turn this block into other skirt styles. Workshop attendees will measure and draft their own pattern using their doll of choice (please bring a doll with you). All materials needed to complete the task will be provided! . Everyone will get a materials packet and printed sets of the patterns plus access to a digital video.

Workshop #3: Make a Scottish Kilt and Tam with Sandra Maxwell

Thursday 3:30-4:30

Travel to the Highlands and get your kilt on with Sandra Maxwell of Sandra Maxwell Studios! In this workshop, you will learn how to make a Scottish kilt and tam for your YOSD (6” to 12”)! All necessary materials and supplies will be provided (including fabric!). Kilts will be made in class so bring your doll to measure for the kilt. You can apply what you learn to make kilts and tams for your larger dolls after the convention!

Workshop #4: Yarn Wig Demonstration with Sherri Rhein

Thursday 4:45-5:45

Interested in learning how to make wigs for your dolls using acrylic yarn? This 1-hour demonstration will focus on the ins and outs of making wigs using this diverse material from brushing out the fiber to assembling the perfect wig for your doll!

Workshop #5: BJD Restringing and Sueding with Jenell Howell

Ever wonder how to restring a BJD? Do you have a BJD that needs to be restrung and not sure what to do? Then this workshop is for you! In this hands-on session with Jenell Howell of Jenell’s Dolls, you’ll learn how to restring and suede! Please bring a doll with you. All materials and supplies needed are included and for your use later!

Workshop #6: Vinyl BJD Face-Ups with Kathryn Naughton (2- part workshop)

Friday 1:45 -3:15 and Saturday 1:15-2:15

Are you interested in learning how to do faceups on vinyl BJDs like Smartdoll, Dollfie Dream and Parabox? Join Kathryn Naughton of MagicalGirlKitCatGaming in this very hands-on workshop! Kathryn will review the basics and application of how to do a faceup on vinyl heads. Examples/mock ups wlll be available for inspiration to get started on your own faceup. Each attendee will receive a blank head to work on in class and take home! All materials will be provided!

In this hands-on session, you’ll learn all about how the perfect eyes can completely change the look of your BJD and what factors to consider in selecting that perfect pair. You’ll even get to try them on (and buy if you like them!)

Are you interested in improving your doll photography? Wondering about lighting, posing and photo editing? Whether you use a camera phone or a DSLR, this workshop is for you! Learn tips, tricks and the art of storytelling with STAND Magazine Editor-in-Chief Deborah Hood, PhD.

Workshop #9: Make a BJD Patchwork Quilt with Donnell Wisniewski

Saturday 11:30-12:30

Quilts have a life of their own and are an important part of many cultures. Learn how to make a lovely quilt for your BJD from Donnell Wisniewski. Participants will receive all the materials they need to make a doll-sized quilt and either tie or finish up the sewing after the con. No sewing needed for this hands-on workshop!

Seminar #10: Dollmaking from Beginning to End with Oddnomalies

Saturday 4:00-5:00

.Are you a collector ready to explore the world of dollmaking? Interested in creating your own doll? Just curious how artists go from ideation to reality with their art? Or, just want to learn more about Oddnomalies artist Kailyn Carr? In this seminar, Kailyn will share her personal process of doll making from beginning to end then (3D modeling, printing, sanding/painting). It’s a great opportunity to learn, get tips, and ask questions about dollmaking!
